As part of the Corinthian Homes Marine Programme, work is under way at North Quay to repair and repoint an area of the historic, listed North Quay harbour wall.

The work is part of the wider regeneration of Hayle Harbour which is the subject of a major redevelopment by Corinthian Homes, with the aim of creating an exciting and vibrant new coastal quarter, with a busy and successful harbour, water sports hub and fishing fleet at its heart.

Corinthian Homes set up the Corinthian Harbour & Marine Programme focussing on a combination of ongoing general harbour maintenance works as well as investment spend activities such as the fishermen’s compound and boat pontoons.

Earlier this year this included work to uncover and assess the condition of Hayle’s 19th Century curved stone training wall which is to be recommissioned as part of reinstating the traditional sluicing method of maintaining the harbour’s navigable channel.

Corinthian Homes Group Operations Director David Tugwell said: “We are delighted to have started work on the North Quay harbour wall and to be continuing our association with Steve Harman of Constructing Co UK Ltd following the excellent first phase of work on the training wall.

“Additionally, looking ahead to the wider commitment to the harbour, we have commissioned marine consultants and engineers TMS Maritime and Bailey Partnership to carry out a full assessment of all of the harbour walls to enable us to implement a long term repair and maintenance programme to ensure the ongoing safety and viability for both commercial and leisure users.”
